Supervisory Park Ranger (I)

You will serve as Division Chief for Interpretation for Wrangell St Elias National Park and Preserve - the largest Park and the National Park System (encompassing over 13 million acres of park and preserve lands) and is responsible for all aspects of interpretation and education. Responsible for the day-to-day administration of interpretive and educational programs, supervises four permanent employees, one term employee and multiple seasonals and volunteers. Oversee five visitor center/contact stations, which serve approximately 90,000 visitors per year, and manage a division budget of approximately $600K ONPS with expected project budget exceeding $500k. Provide oversight to social media programming and is the primary liaison with the cooperating association. Serves as a key member of the park's leadership team, is the youth and partnership coordinator and serves as primary point of contact with a variety of partners and cooperating agencies and is the park's public information officer (PIO). Manages, evaluates, and provides direction, planning, and review of the interpretive services programs and activities for the park. Works with other parks, the Alaska Regional Office of the NPS, agencies, federal/state agencies and outside organizations and entities to coordinate and accomplish work efforts. To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience include:
supervising a park education and interpretive program; serving as a lead or supervisory interpretive ranger, educator or teacher in a park, historic site, recreation, or conservation area; management or program specialist work involving the development and/or implementation of policy related to the education/interpretation programs in park areas or similar operations. Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
