Biological Science Technician (Fish)

May-October Work will include, but is not limited to the following:
Assists biologists in executing and reporting of fishery activities to support the fisheries management programs including research, conservation and management of fish resources. Uses a variety of tools, equipment, and materials to carry out fishery and water chemistry procedures, methods and practices. Collects and reports data using standardized data collection procedures and equipment. Installs, operates, and maintains resource management equipment (e.g., tools, traps, and sampling, monitoring, photographic, and laboratory equipment). Inventories equipment, evaluates quality assurance compliance, and calibrates equipment as necessary. Utilizes a variety of computer programs to compile and report data and other resource management information, including research and long-term monitoring projects. Provides information to other employees and visitors about the natural resource management program. In addition to working in an office/field setting, this job could involve hiking with up to 50 lbs. for up to 15 miles per day over rough terrain; lifting heavy weights (up to 50 lbs); working in inclement (hot, cold, snow, wind, rain) weather conditions. Field work includes exposure to biting insects and potentially dangerous animals. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40
hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-4 (basic technician level) which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position. Specialized experience is indicated by one or more of the following:
carried out routine field or laboratory assignments in support of fisheries-biology related activities with direct supervision; conducted tests and routine procedural tasks in a biological science field using well-established work procedures or specific instructions with direct supervision; participated in fisheries projects, performed tasks such as making fish counts, sampling fish and trapping fish with direct supervision; recorded scientific data to prepare reports. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hour or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study in a related field of scientific or technical study, such as in biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, mathematics, or other directly-related subject matter; or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as those shown above. At least 6 semester hours must be directly related to Ichthyology. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours, in excess of the first 60 semester hours earned towards your degree, and divide by 60. Take the number of months of full time experience and divide by 12. Add the two percentages. The total must equal at least 100 percent. For example:
I have 6 months of the specialized experience described above (50% of the experience requirement), plus 90 semester hours of undergraduate level work (50% of the education requirement) - which includes:
at least 12 semester hours (50% of the related field of study as described above); of which, at least 3 semester hours of study must be directly related to Ichthyology (50% of the directly related study as described above). You must include transcripts. Volunteer

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
